Vital Questions

Junior year in college that she was abducted by a serial rapist on campus. It became quite the story in the media at the time and ended up with a 3 day stand off (after 2 weeks of being his naked tied up love slave in the basement) with the SWAT team coming in to save her. The serial rapist is still in prison (plot hook in future of him being released). With those two bad experiences.. she's still not real keen on intimacy. So.. she's over sensative to people calling her 'chica', 'babe', 'honey', touching her, standing to close to her, etc. As long as she thinks she's got some <control> over the situation she seems okay.. but getting vulnerable wigs her out and its extreamly unlikable about her.

5. Family Members:
Her father (Tom McDonald: Age: 48) teaches Magical studies at Michigan State University, Mother (Renee McDonald: Age: 46) teaches elemental/spirit studies at the Michigan State University. It was Sam's mother which discovered she was magically active when Samantha reached her years of puberty and it was then that they began to encourage their daughter to develope her gift. It was her father which instructed her in sorcery and her mother which tutored her in conjuring, taking most of her attention away from her other favorite activities, thus explaining perhaps why she's never really developed athletically (body 2, strength 2, quickness 2), all her attention funneled into studies of the intellectual and magical nature.

Entering her sophomore year of high school her parents invested even more time in instructing her, including private tutors and her grades improved tremendously and by the time of graduation she was top of her class and received a full scholorship in magical studies at Michigan State University.

Her Sophomore year of college she fell in love with her English professor, whom of course married and promissed to leave his wife.. of course this never happened and her first 'real' love broke her heart. This experience at least helped her focus on her magic more cuz the distraction of the opposite sex no longer pleased her and she poured herself further into her education and practice of the arts.

It was after college that she was employeed by a Talismonger in Detroit and for the last five years she's been learning Enchanting (Enchanting), dealing with customers (Etiquette, Negotiations, Magical Goods Value) as well as designing spells (Spell Design). Being employed making spells for people and enchanting items in a talismonger store in Detroit can introduce you to a whole host of new experiences, including many situations with people coming in for advice from her boss and her learning about paranormal animals, as well as other magical threats like Strain III FAB, spirits, etc.

Talismonger (Level 2) (-10,000 nuyen)
Laura Kennedy - White human female, blonde. Training in spell design, conjuring, sorcery and has Samantha train clients. Laura is still Samantha's legal SIN tax paying employer.

Corporate Executivve: Teagan McAllister/+bbread 23/5 (Level 1) (Free Level 1 Chargen Contact)
Samantha has delt with McAllister on three previous jobs (arranged by Simon Peters), having proved herself on those three jobs, Samantha is someone which McAllister just might call on again to clean up some mess in the corporate world.

Talismonger: Diego/+bbread 23/9 (Level 1) (Free Level 1 Chargen Contact)
Samantha has delt with Diego due to her position with her IC job working for Larua Kennedy. It's a business relationship where she can purchase things "off the record" without her employeer knowing and the financial data of it getting back to the IRS (illegal purchases).

8. Enemies:
Lecherous, self serving, opinionate, pig headed, horney MEN. They're everywhere, and they're probably either molesting some woman, or playing with themselves in front of a trideo chat channel.

Her Junior year, (ooc: disturbing part of BG, skip if you want), Samantha was abducted by a serial rapist and held captive (unmentionable things here about tied in basement and 'used', etc), for two weeks. It ended with a SWAT team coming to her rescue and to this day the rapist is stillin prison (His release is a planned PrP).

After this experience, Samantha dropped out of college, dealing with the trauma, not helped by the fact that the whole event became a media circus for the two weeks and reporters still hounded her for interviews.

The last job specifically was her being magical support for a team that went to New York City.. where it was their task to wait for a New York City shadowrun group to heist some gear out of a secure facility.. when the team came out with the item, Samantha's team ambushed them and took the item from them (a doublecross of the Johnsons/Corps). (Note: This will be Samantha's very first plothook and PrP.. the New York City team coming to Detroit to seek revenge).

10. Archetype:
Samantha is paranoid of trusting men, completely absorbed in conjuring, sorcery and enchanting it takes up hordes of her time. If it wasn't for the every day relationships and dealing with customers at the talismonger shop she'd likely be an introvert to the core.. but she's learned to mask her distrusts, for the sake of business. Darn.. twenty words or less. this is lame.. I could go on for 500 words and only scratch the surface.

What do you hate about your character? What are the good reasons for other characters to dislike or hate the character?
She's very untrusting as far as relationships go. What would provoke your character to murder? A lie? An insult? An attack? A crime against one of his friends? Nothing?
Samantha would murder if her life was in danger, a friends life was in danger, if there was a good chance she'd be captured/emprisoned.. leastwise that's her view on life right at this time.

Describe your character's perfect style of living. Why is this lifestyle perfect?
Samantha thinks the perfect style of living is away from the prying eye of law enforcement. Strict as magic use is she finds it restricting to her improvement. Normally this means she's restricted to the more slum areas of the city, but she's not all that tied to fancy clothing and designer class things anyway.. all that stuff is superficial anyway.

How would your character describe his perfect mate? Would you, the player, agree? How is your character mistaken?
Samantha would describe her perfect mate as someone understanding, patient and kind. Someone not infatuated with sex, someone driven to excell in their lifes gift, someone desiring to remove the evil of the world.. even if that means taking matters into their own hands. Probably not real healthy and will lead to some difficult times.. but like previously mentioned.. she a tad warped.

If your character had servants, how would they be treated? How does your character treat his friends? His parents?
She *Does* have servants (Elementals). She treats them as tools, things under her command and care and if she mistreats them they won't function best for her and so she treats them well. Samantha treats her friends with respect and care, she doesn't have a whole lot of them.. not because she's not likeable.. but because not many are magically awakened and that's most of what she spends her time involved in. Her parents she loves dearly and looks to them for magical/conjuring advice and thinks of them as mentors for the most part.

How would your character's father describe her? How would this differ from the way her mother describes her?
Samantha's father (Tom McDonald) would describe her as overzealous in her magic.. having the 'gift' she's never relented in her studies and pushes too hard. What was encouraged as a child and college student.. Samantha has gone too far with it and now its an obsession. Samantha's mother (Renee McDonald) would describe her as a bit.. unrefined. Samantha seems to have cast aside the offer of a paid for apartment, a car, etc. Instead, Samantha has chosen to hang around with her 'course' friends and in dangers areas of the city.. hardly lady like in her eyes.

To your character, does "revenge" mean (a) "eye for an eye," (b) "repayment with interest," (c) "the only good enemy is a dead enemy?" or (d) something else? Why does your character feel this way about retribution?
Samantha is a bit of a softy for those in need, thus her learning of the Heal spell instead of Treat. If she was selfish she'd only learn Treat for her friends/associates could be treated within 1 hour of injury. The reason she chose Heal though was because, even with the higher drain/danger, she can heal homeless people and people which have been injured and ignored by society. Samantha then would indeed go out of her way to help an innocent person. BUT... if there's a good chance she may die.. then she can't rightly help more people in the future and dying won't do anyone any good. So, thinking of the greater good of humanity.. she'd do her best to reduce her own chance of death.. but in the end retreat to save her own life.

Your character is the butt of a practical joke. Could your character see the humor in it? Would your character get even? Does getting even mean staging another practical joke?
Practical Jokes are great.. Samantha may be an over-studied magical geek with a nasty past and injured mental status.. but a joke is something to be appreciated. Now.. if it would cost her a great financial hardship (destroying her stuff), injuring her.. then that's another story (see revenge above). Getting Even-> Oh sure.. but of equal escalation.. she won't go overboard trying to prove she's better.

Everybody has something that is sacred to them: a piece of clothing, a knick-knack, a memento of a special event. What is your character's sacred item? How did she find it or how did it become important?
Samantha's 'sacred item' is her magic. She guards it above all other things in her life right now and because of this learning of its importance in her life she'd never consider further cyber or bioware which dampens her ability with it. It's what she nurtures and cares for and exercises to get more attuned with.
